Corrupt file, or you have a remnant of an intrusive hack (hint: none of mine do) clashing with the official update.

I am trying to jailbreak my kindle 3.1 and it hasn't done anything. I dragged the file to the Kindle and updated it and it is supposed to show a new folder when I plug it back in, but there is no folder. I went to a page and it said to create a new folder called 'enable diags' to start it in diagnostic mode but once again when I restarted it it did not go into diagnostic mode.

You're doing it wrong . Instead of quoting it, *read* the first post (and only this, the diags mention make me think you've mixed this up with instructions for a K4...).
It's pretty much as simple as putting the right .bin file on the root of the device, and clicking the 'Update Your Kindle' link. |

The FW version doesn't play into it.
Check this wiki page to find the 'nickname' appropriate for your device model. (And I'll add that link to the FAQ, something I thought I'd already done... -_-") |

Help with Kindle Paperwhite Hack
I have been trying to follow the thread and instructions on getting my Kindle Paperwhite jailbroken and get the Calibre collections pluggin working on the paperwhite. So far, I have not been successful.
The Kindle has been updated to the 5.4.3.2 software. The first 4 digits of the serial number is 90D4, bought in the US from Amazon. I think I need to first get the OS reverted back to 5.3.5, is that correct? How do I accomplish this? I have downloaded the update_kindle_5.3.5.bin file and placed it on the Kindle, but the "Update Your Kindle" menu selection stays greyed out. |

@jesse487: Wrong thread .
And, yeah, you need to be a little creative to downgrade a PW/PW2 since FW 5.4.2.1, cf. [https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...de&page=2]this thread[/url]. |

Released v0.44.N of the ScreenSavers hack.
This is a (late) hotfix release. Cover mode was massively broken in 0.43.N. Huge thanks to CmdrCrabapple for noticing and complaining, since it was out for nearly two months... I completely failed to notice the issue because I was somehow testing with a newer build, and since it stemmed from an upstream regression in one of the tools I'm using, the build I was using was actually fixed . Anyway, if you're currently using v0.43.N, this is a strongly recommended update, because it was broken in a very nasty way (besides a broken cover mode, it was also respawning a process in an infinite loop every 5s, which isn't terribly nice for the battery life...). Even if you aren't currently using cover mode, you might decide to try it one day, so, please, upgrade . |

Are you sure you have the correct file?
Hint: A DXG is not a K3, it is a large screen K2. |

i checked three of the fonts files in the forum. Neither of them contains a so-called "src" file.

@Frühaufsteher: You technically don't need the src folder to install the hack as a random end user, which is why it's not there. I don't know where you got that from, but it's been a while since the doc was fixed to follow the new package structure...
But if you really, really like the idea of a src folder, knc1 nailed it. Last edited by NiLuJe; 06-02-2014 at 10:49 AM. |

Sometimes I can hit the broadside of a barn. It does seem to be a problem with our assumption that the owner of an electronic reading device, reads. Perhaps we can turn human nature onto our side: rename all the "readme.txt" files to "secrets_of_successful_porn-must_not_be_read.txt" |

Are both otf and ttf fonts supported. Given ttf and otf of same name, which will it use? The one with newer timestamp?
Thanks |
