Prof Julie, Do you know of any good PPCs that are good for reading Ebooks and have an ability to adjust the lighting to a very minimal level so as not to hurt the eyes while reading in low light?
Most of my experience with Pocket PCs is with HP IPAQs and Dell Axims, but I've got a few ideas...

Is your battery fully charged? Sometimes when it hangs like that, it simply needs a good charge. Have you plugged it directly into AC power and left it to charge for several hours?

It's also possible that the OS on your Pocket PC has somehow gotten corrupted. A potential fix is to find a ROM update for your pocket pc (check the manufacturers support pages for the model for such an update) and install it to the device (this will reinstall the OS and all pre-installed software to the Pocket PC).

Pocket PC's provide the ability to adjust the backlight settings. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > backlight icon > adjust the brightness as desired. You may also be able to turn on a Today Screen plugin so you could adjust the backlight directly from the Today Screen.

Got GEN3

Finally. It took 9 days. Not bad considering it had to cross all of Eurasia. Now learning the ropes. So far so good....
