Thanks for the info Taming - but my desktop is downloading every book every time you click Update Library. This slows down the whole process quite a bit.

digiSara; you might like to follow the advice from Corby in this thread; run the program he lists and then send him the log it captures.

Yeah--the downloading every book every time is a separate issue. Corby should be able to figure that out.

Hi,
For anyone who is experiencing this problem, please redownload the desktop software from http://www.kobobooks.com/desktop. There is no need to sign out or resync your library, just reinstall on top of your current installation. Most 1.9 users were not affected by this issue, so if you don't see this problem occurring, there is no need to reinstall. Thank you, Corby |

Yep, thanks Corby. That fixed it.
I had to go through and clean up a few books in the eReader and on the desktop that were in an incorrect state of open or close, but now the eReader does a proper Sync and the desktop app does a proper Update Library. All is well. I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea for the many people who don't read this site and are experiencing this fault in annoyed silence, to pop-up a reload suggestion when the desktop is next started up. ltr |

Interesting... I installed the newest desktop and now, the Desktop recognizes the Kobo as being attached, however, the Sync button does nothing. DbgView shows the following

Hi; first post here. I've been lurking for a while.
Anyway - just downloaded 1.9 to desktop and ereader. One book that I already had on my Borders desktop library was wiped off of the desktop after the update. Weird. (I can still get to it via my Borders elibrary, so - okay. And it's still on my ereader, so go figure). And in synching my library (I haven't done it in ages; I usually download the epubs from Borders, or open them in Adobe, etc, and then copy/paste drag/drop), one other purchased ebook does not show up on the Borders desktop. Also weird. Also - now, *every single time* I open the desktop app, it tells me I need to download the update. I've followed the direction three times now. And still....it tells me I need to download. so confused.... Last edited by beautifulsoup; 04-17-2011 at 12:02 PM. Reason: See post below...in blue. ETA: On Sunday, April 17: For whatever reason, on the fifth download of desktop app update, I got my "missing" books back. Weird.

The only books I see in the Kobo desktop are the 5 (?) that came with it. When I press "update libary" it goes through the Kobo online library. I can see the titles, but no books show up. Syncing the reader doesn't make any difference to the desktop either. Haven't worried too much about it though, since I use Calibre and the Kobo isn't for my use. The person I'm giving it to can use Calibre as well, I suppose.

I've had the 1.9 firmware for a while now (2 weeks or so?) and I've noticed that it still doesn't go from sleep to off for sideloaded books. That is: if I leave it, it'll go to sleep but never power down completely.
Was that supposed to be fixed in 1.9? Or is that how it's supposed to work now? (On the plus side, it never loses my page!) |
