I have been told that it is not Onyx. The firmware is very different. I guess we will find out the manufacturer soon.

No, it's not an Onyx model. BeBook and Onyx are no longer on speaking terms since Onyx refused to deliver an update to the Book S firmware to take care of all the reported bugs, even though BeBook offered to pay for it. In spite of earlier promises, Onyx has decided to focus on the i-series and the M92 only, and to stop updating all other models.

Some images of the menus etc. Forgive the quality. As I set up the light faded due to a storm so I used a little ambient lighting . It really is grey not yellow. In fact it is the best screen I have seen other than my pearl Club S.
First up the Home screen. This is where you start [IMG][/IMG] Main Menu Screen [IMG][/IMG] Library Screen listed by detail. [IMG][/IMG] Library Screen sub menu. [IMG][/IMG] Library Screen displayed as thumbnails. [IMG][/IMG] The Explorer view. I have not checked out how deep it can be nested but I have gone 5 with no troubles. [IMG][/IMG] Finally, displaying a book in Mobi format. [IMG][/IMG] |

Having the mini and firmly believing a reader doesn't need countless bells and whistles attached I'm happy to see that "minimalist reader" isn't a dead idea yet.
Any reports reviews and specs posted are most welcome and appreciated |

I agree that it is nice to have a nice minimalist reader... The only problem is that you can often get more full featured readers for the same or less money.

More (useless) features means shorter battery life unless you can hardware-off them which is not common in portable devices.

I've got to the link and, google translating it, the description says "High contrast Pearl E-Ink display with 16 shades of gray shades". So, it *has* Pearl screen. http://www.bol.com/nl/p/bebook-pure/...ct_description
Any difference is in your mind. |

Thanks, Stormchild. Can you comment on display choices - fonts, font sizes, line spacing, margins etc? Can you sideload fonts?
How does the button-pageturning feel over time? |

You can buy a Kobo Touch for £65 now at Staples in the UK, which is cheaper and better than the bebook.
