The recipes are a bit "Americanized" over here. Not very salty. The big draw is the theater involved. It's a lot of fun. Just finished a cup of water. |

Most steak places serve their steak, especially Kobe beef, pre-sliced into bite-sized pieces that YOU cook on a grill built into your table, bite by bite. You are served a plate of raw meat and veggies, and YOU do the cooking as you eat. Very common all over. While there ARE the sort of places you are thinking of, they are few and far between. If you do a Google Image search on 'Teppenyaki' (which is the name of the style of cooking) almost every image shows western diners but Japanese chefs. I only know of one such place in my area, but more in the 'entertainment districts' downtown. There ARE places where the chefs DO cook in front of you, but these are not steak houses. They are more like pubs with small dishes of food, tapas style but with Japanese foods. You might order 5-15 dishes while you sit and drink, the chef making them one or two at a time, often serving them on a long-handled 'pizza pell' to the different people sitting around the grill. You usually are not permitted to stay more than two hours... even if you are steadily eating and drinking... Weird! Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 02-19-2013 at 06:23 AM. |

My second mug of supermarket tea bag black tea. Looking forward to the next round. It's a chilly, wet day out there -- good to be inside with tea!

Bundled up with my coffee. It is cold, windy, and not getting better out there.

Budweiser in my glass. A rare event these days. The thermomenter says 3 degrees C, yet when I stepped outside a moment ago it felt like -3 degrees.

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry Sunshine on the water looks so lovely Sunshine almost always makes me high If I had a day that I could give you I'd give to you a day just like today If I had a song that I could sing for you I'd sing a song to make you feel this way ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybeke7_d1zE ) Good morning, everyone! What a beautiful day!!! Bright, sunny, crisp and cold! A good day to get things done! We got most of the walls washed yesterday, so today will be a shopping day at the home center, picking up some 'Spackle' to patch nail holes from the decorations on the walls, and perhaps a two-hour ride just because the sun will feel so good... But first... Taylors of Harrogate's "Yorkshire" tea, some rice with prosciutto and Kalamata olives to start the day, then a fast 5k walk around the 'hood' for some exercise. I haven't been doing enough walking lately, and my body is telling me to work a bit harder! Stitchawl |

Water, too hot for anything else, except maybe a gin later, after the puppy has been to her playdate with a big dog.

Good morning! Well-sized potion of coffee from well-sized arty Moomin gift mug, telling me that today the fat keyboard is going to sing. Reminding that in Swedish 'gift' means poison, the coffee has also other morning effects
