If you find traces of Hunter Thompson's Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas as you read Down and Out in Paris and London, it just demonstrates that Thompson knew where to steal from.

Written in the 1930s, Down and Out is my favorite Orwell book. While not as famous as 1984 and Animal Farm, it is a wonderful read.
