Preventing "orphan" right smartquotes?

Is there a way to prevent the right hand side smart quote mark from ending up alone and orphaned on the next line?

So for example:

"Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears.
"
could be forced to:

"Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your
ears."

(This problem tends to come up for me on the iPhone a lot, because of the relatively short line lengths displayed)
