3rd Party Tools Requested

From the discussion in this thread and other theads I compiled the following list of tools that owners of the DR would like to have:
- search tool/function for document (names) and/or content.
- library manager (citation database)
- DJVU viewer (like Evince)
- calendar, contact, todo
- algebraic sceintific calculator
- lightweight text editor (is leadpad good enough?)
- chess game
- go game
- full working xournal (what should be changed?)
- (easy accessible ) Clock
- Merge scribbles on the DR itself.
- Interactive Fiction a.k.a. Text Adventures, using Gargoyle
- Shell/Terminal

I though I give it a seperate thread so I can update this (first) message with extra tool that anyone would want to have and links to 'example' programs.
Any new requests?

As to the djvu viewer, IMHO, Evince should be a better choice for DR1000 than djview4. Evince uses GTK+ as its gui, thus eliminates the tough task to control screen refreshment on E-ink device, since iRex has modified GTK+ of DR1000 to incorporte screen-refreshment. Evince on DR1000 can use the patched GTK+ lib.
If you want to port djview4 to DR1000, how to control screen refreshment will be a big problem. You either have to modify QT lib to call screen-refreshment APIs (just like what iRex did on GTK+) or port Antartica's xepdmgr to DR1000. Modifying QT source code is a tremendous task. Maybe you should try porting xepdmgr to DR1000.
Building QT 4.5.2 for DR1000 should not be a problem, I guess, since it ok for iLiad.

Added:
But there maybe a problem between Evince and DR1000:
GLIB on DR1000 may not meet the recquirement for the most current Evince.

Getting the DR to allow merging as a menu option, without the Companion software would be my favourite, but I suspect that is a question for iRex themselves.

Otherwise, your list covers most bases.

Interactive Fiction a.k.a. Text Adventures. They have succeded on the Iliad, so why not on the DR1000! Keyboard's there already...

Some form of Shell access or Terminal.

How about a screenshot tool? I've been thinking it would be neat if we could snapshot a region of the screen and save it as an image as a way of gathering excerpts (sort of like how the Kindle lets you highlight and clip text). KSnapshot for KDE does this although I have absolutely no idea whether it'd be possible on the DR1000.

Xournal already has this possibility. Use the Journal->Background Screenshot- menu (screen will get blanked). Then navigate to the window you want to take a screenshot of using ONLY the keys and not the pen and finally tap on the window with your pen (wait some time until it flashes 2-4sec). Navigate back to Xournal and see the screenshot and export to PDF

The changed source code, posted by m van vliet in the thread indicated above, is not accessible anymore, does anyone have a copy of it?

To the current source (of generic Gargoyle): Google Code page
But a more basic interpreter for the rather common Inform-style files (aka Z-machines) is goode ole Frotz or perhaps Zoom if that helps...
