Oprah giving away Sony 700s!

I see a Sony 700 as part of the Oprah Summer Give-away (go to the bottom of the page) starting June 1. I don't know how many are part of the give-away.

Get ready for the wackiness Sony people!

Edit: From the Official Rules:

Quote:
Twenty-four (24) Sony Reader Digital Books at a total ARV of Eight Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($8,400.00) ($350.00 per digital book);

Must have struck a deal with Sony as I see more than one Sony item on the list. Either way it's good promo.

Or even Oprah has gotten fed up with Amazon's draconian monopolistic attempts at controlling content for eReaders...

Oh, you have to actually watch the Oprah Show to get the word of the day and enter? No thanks, I would rather go back to paper books.

(Yes, I know you can get the word from her website, I'm just being snarky =P)

Oprah's love of Amazon Kindle fuels eBook interest

Downloading books by wi-fi will soon be changing the way the UK reads
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...-interest.html

When Oprah told her audience she loves Amazon's electronic book reader, search traffic for the word "Kindle" went up 479pc. The gadgets has become a firm favourite of celebrities, from Jennifer Aniston to Cameron Diaz and has spawned an industry forecast to be worth more than $1bn (£628m) in the US within the next few years.

While not available in the UK yet because of technical issues such as the necessity to strike deals with mobile phone companies to cover the cost of data use, geeks and bookworms alike are closely watching its developments from this side of the Atlantic. While the Sony Reader, which is on sale in the UK , may be visually similar to the Kindle, it does not have wi-fi capability.

Wowowowow! She doesn't have a bad prize, nor do you have to buy, signup or sell anything to enter.

Thanks for the info!

Ignorant journalists. The Kindle does not have "wi-fi capability" either.

Hey, they're journalists... They wouldn't know the difference between wifi (by which you can connect to the internet) or whispernet (by which you can connect to the internet)... Give them a break

(now, a device that has both would be cool!)
