Question for a technical guru: re: Folders

I was thinking about creating reading lists or collections on the Kindle.

I know that the Kindle/mobi format supports links to the web from within a book. For example the feedbooks book that links to its own books. Is there a way to code these links so that they refer to a local file (a book) instead of to a web link?

This would then let me create books that were lists of books I owned, organized and annotated however I wished. I played around a little with the mobipocket documentation and HTML, but I couldn't seem to get it to work on the Kindle. I don't know if that feature is disabled, or I just didn't get the syntax correct.

Any thoughts?

Excellent idea! Collections! Folders!
The problem you are facing is that http:// tells the reader to go off the device to the web.

To work, mobigen and the ebook reader need to support some sort of file:// convention which causes the e-book reader to be (re)launched with book indicated on the device.

I tried it with a simple doc.txt file, I couldn't make it go, so your chances are slim here, but if you found a way (hint to Lab126 SW team), you could become famous!
