eReading. The experience of eReading.

eReading
The experience of eReading
http://fglaysher.com/eReading/

I'd like to announce my new blog, eReading. As I think of it, eReading is about the *experience* of reading on digital devices, reflecting on it, not on any particular device, nor on the technical issues of the current gadgets. I'm primarily interested in thinking and writing about the *experience* of serious literature and literary texts and books in the various ebook formats now available.

I invite all those who might share a similar interest to take a look and participate, if so inclined.

Best,

Fred Glaysher

A blog is qualitatively different than a forum. A blog provide a focused rss feed for example and it usually does not have as many comments compared to a forum.

Your blogs are well written. Many of us have drawn some of those same conclusions, and wonder about the implications of digital vs. paper issues.

Blogs are the personality of the author. This forum is more of a level playing field. I see no harm or competition to MR involved here. Mr. Glaysher gets the advantage of being the ultimate authority at his blog, saying whatever he wants and editing comments as he desires. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for the link!

I wish people would quit using "eReader" and derivatives so confusingly. eReader is one specific company (well, two, counting Fictionwise) and one specific reader format put out by that company.

Is "eReading" going to concentrate specifically on eReader? If not, perhaps it should have another name.

But the alternative, e-book, is more confusing because it can refer to the book file or the device. e-reader seems like the best noun for the device, no?

Well, I prefer eBook (or e-book) for the content and eBook reader for the device.

i think of each individual ebook as a virtual book rather than thinking of the reader that way.

My son calls my Cybook my "Book" and demands that I read him his stories, which I have stored on it. The modern 5 yr old.
