No. But, if I resize the columns they seem to pop-up. Seems that they were collapsed to 0 width or something.

I am using Tags for book categories, Crime, Sci-Fi etc, so was really looking for another field for location.

I submitted an enhancement request ticket a while ago for a separate Categories/Genres field in addition to the current Tags field for just this sort of reason.

As it will require enhancements to the current database format as well as GUI changes I would guess that it is not one of those enhancements that can easily be slipped in with minimal effort. Having said that if Kovid thinks a thing is a really good idea it seems to get done rapidly regardless of the perceived difficulty.

you can add multiple tags, so theoretically you could use them for both kinds of data, but i understand why you would prefer to have a different field.

maybe kovid will agree that that is a really good idea and make the enhancement quickly.

I hope he doesn't. Tags are much more flexible... or Kovid would have to add all types of taxonomy fields. Have the generic "tag" field provides for the most flexibility.

As you said, there is no reason you can have genre tags, read tag, onreader tag, etc. Since as you say you can use multiple tags for each book.

oh, i didn't realize how complicated it would be to support another field. so it looks like tags are the best idea then. luckily calibre already supports them.

No more fields! Tags + comments really should cover all use cases reasonably well and proliferation of fields would just make everything unnecessarily complicated and unwieldy.

Ah well, I will give some thoughts to the Tags field for multiple usage and maybe continue using the "series" field for the quick overview.
