Why feel bad if people are willing to pay it? Your not forcing them. There is nothing wrong with being opportunistic. Plus, many of us here are tech junkies. How many of us have been heartbroken about how quickly our investment in tech products has depreciated so quickly?

Device: Kindle, iPod Touch,
... will honor their warranty even without proof of purchase.
The only kicker, is that they will date the start of the warranty from the "Date of Manufacture" instead of the "Date of Sale".
For a hot selling item like a Kindle, that might not be a big difference, or it might be just enough to put your reader, out of warranty.
