Has anyone else seen the original Japanese version, Gojira? Not the American version with Raymond Burr.

It's actually a better movie with a clearer anti-nuclear message.

I love the Raymond Burr version. It was great seeing him speak and interact with one Japanese actor after another, all of whom had their backs turned to the camera. One of my favorite scenes in the movie showed him in a close up attending a conference, then when the camera pans the room, there's nothing but Japanese faces in the entire place. Great moments in cinematic editing.

And I wonder if those skydiving soldiers are the equivalent of the divers delivering the oxygen destroyer in the original.

Esquire's (Russia) September issue is about common and ordinary people, not celebrities. This is the story of Vasily Ilyn, a retired farmer from the village of Ryshkovo, on a first time journey to see the world, New York, the ocean, and a cover photo shoot for Esquire.

I love the Oshin series on YouTube. It is the life story of a Japanese woman, right from her childhood during World War 1 till the 80s. So far 179 (English-subtitled) episodes of the serial have been uploaded.

Yes this is old and in black&white. The sound is not great either. It is such a wonderful Christmas story though. All parts are on Youtube.

He actually makes some good points in a fun way, but I'd be very wary of any legal solutions to the problems he brings up. A great rant, though.

I found this and wanted to share it... It's a video but not YouTube.

This is "Taps," the tune many of ended our work day with years ago. But this is 'Taps' as it was never played on any Military base in the past 150 years... This is the 'original' as it was written in 1801.
This version of the original "taps" music is played by a 13 year old Dutch girl named Melissa Venema. The conductor of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Holland. Many of you may never have heard taps played in its entirety. The original version of Taps was called Last Post, and was written by Daniel Butterfield. It was rather lengthy and formal, as you will hear in this clip, so in 1862 it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named Taps.
Melissa Venema is playing it on a trumpet whereby the original was played on a bugle.

A nice performance, but the caption says it is 'Il Silenzio', an Italian instrumental piece written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso.

According to Wikipedia, Taps "was arranged in its present form by the Union Army Brigadier General Daniel Butterfield […] in July 1862 to replace a previous French bugle call used to signal "lights out"."

It is thought to be based on the earlier 'Scott Tattoo', published in 1835.

The "Last Post" is a British bugle/trumpet piece, in use since at least the mid 1700s.

Please don't shoot the messenger. I was just repeating what was written under the video. I only know it as the short form, and really don't have any particular interest in its accurate history, only its music. 'Taps' is a stirring piece, and you can certainly hear the bits and pieces of it within the song being played by this young woman.

Considering that Wikipedia is an open-source reference that can be written by anyone who wishes to, I think it's a good idea to take any information with a gentle hand. We've seen all too often how inaccurate it can be.

EDIT: I just went back to the video, and the caption under it, copied and pasted is;
'Il Silencio' (The Silence) played by 13 year old Melissa Venema with André Rieu and his orchestra at the 'Vrijthof' in Maastricht.

I also looked up Nini Rosso... 'He' was born in 1926. 'He' looks remarkably well preserved in this video. Probably the Gender Transformation surgery had something to do with it...

But really, the idea is to LISTEN TO THE MUSIC, not to analyze the text.
