So I guess it doesn't matter that I haven't got a coupon code from them, yet?

We get it Jon. You don't like Phoenix Pick books. Is it *reallly* necessary to post multiple posts complaining about the quality of their code? Because, you know, most of us don't give a darn that the code is "ugly". Only if we can read the book.

True, but it is one of their older books, just because they are offering it for free now doesn't make it new.

This one comes up every once in a while. Daniel Abraham's The Dragon Path with the advanced reading copy of Leviathan Wakes is currently $2.99 at Amazon (US).

Quote:
**Includes an advance reading copy of Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey**

All paths lead to war...

Marcus' hero days are behind him. He knows too well that even the smallest war still means somebody's death. When his men are impressed into a doomed army, staying out of a battle he wants no part of requires some unorthodox steps.

Cithrin is an orphan, ward of a banking house. Her job is to smuggle a nation's wealth across a war zone, hiding the gold from both sides. She knows the secret life of commerce like a second language, but the strategies of trade will not defend her from swords.

Geder, sole scion of a noble house, has more interest in philosophy than in swordplay. A poor excuse for a soldier, he is a pawn in these games. No one can predict what he will become.

Falling pebbles can start a landslide. A spat between the Free Cities and the Severed Throne is spiraling out of control. A new player rises from the depths of history, fanning the flames that will sweep the entire region onto The Dragon's Path-the path to war.

This e-book edition of The Dragon's Path includes an advance reading copy of Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey

Welcome to the future.

Humanity has colonized the solar system - Mars, the Moon, the Asteroid Belt and beyond - but the stars are still out of our reach.

Jim Holden is XO of an ice miner making runs from the rings of Saturn to the mining stations of the Belt. When he and his crew stumble upon a derelict ship, The Scopuli, they find themselves in possession of a secret they never wanted. A secret that someone is willing to kill for - and kill on a scale unfathomable to Jim and his crew. War is brewing in the system unless he can find out who left the ship and why.

Detective Miller is looking for a girl. One girl in a system of billions, but her parents have money and money talks. When the trail leads him to The Scopuli and rebel sympathizer Holden, he realizes that this girl may be the key to everything.

Holden and Miller must thread the needle between the Earth government, the Outer Planet revolutionaries, and secretive corporations - and the odds are against them. But out in the Belt, the rules are different, and one small ship can change the fate of the universe.

Everytime I hear something like, "Welcome to the Future," I think of cheeezzy Criswell and Bela Lugosi.

But, hey: That's just me!

OMG. I read one of Criswell's books in junior high. (Love that cover)! IIRC he predicted that in the 1990s, Denver would be surrounded by an unbreakable dome created from pollution, and no one would be able to get in or out.

You can see more stuff about his predictions here. I wish somebody would put out a Kindle edition because it was fun.

Well - this might be interesting for the urban fantasy fans. Today's Kindle Daily Deal is the complete series of Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine (that's 5 novels) is available for $1.99 at Amazon (US).

Quote:
Necromancer. Bounty hunter. Killer.

Dante Valentine has been all three in her life. But in the beginning, she was a Necromancer for hire. And while she was choosy about her jobs, there were just some she couldn't turn down. Like when the Devil showed up at the door and offered her a deal. Her life - in exchange for the capture and elimination of a renegade demon. But how do you kill something that can't die?

Dante Valentine, one of urban fantasy's hottest series, is compiled into one volume for the first time. Included in this omnibus edition are: Working for the Devil, Dead Man Rising, The Devil's Right Hand, Saint City Sinners, and To Hell and Back.

Shards Of The Glass Slipper: Queen Cinder by Roy A. Mauritsen [Padwolf Publishing]

Quote:
Note: Kindle Edition includes artwork by author/artist Roy Mauritsen
One Last Chance To Save Happily Ever After! Can a group of heroes, including Goldenhair, Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, help General Snow White and her dwarven resistance fighters defeat the tyrannical Queen Cinderella? And will they succeed before a war with Wonderland destroys everything? Their only hope to stop Cinderella's quest for power lies with a young girl named Patience Muffet. She carries the fabled shards of Cinderella's glass slippers, as well as the dark secret of who murdered the last of the fairy godmothers. Roy A.Mauritsen's fantasy adventure fairy tale epic begins with Shards of the Glass Slipper: Queen Cinder.
