Just added The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie to my wish list. Thanks!

I just read that they're adult books but isn't the narrator a child?

Yes, the narrator is a child, but the books are on an adult reading level, and the child is intelligent beyond her years. However, she is still a child who plays pranks on her sisters. Being a child, there are things she can get away with that an adult could not, but she is also limited in what she can do; for example, her transportation is a bicycle, and she has limited access to the telephone. I found the books to be an interesting change of pace from the adult-protagonist books I usually read.

Frank Tuttle's All the Paths of Shadow -- a cozy fantasy that was very good.

A Gift of Ghosts by Sarah Wynde was a pretty light romance that I enjoyed. Little bit of a mystery to keep it moving along; cozy.

Unicorn on Speed Dial by Jeanette Cottrell -- I can't recommend this often enough for cozy lovers--it's soccer mom in fantasy setting. WONDERFUL read. Loved it.

Julie Moffet's Lexi series--hilarious and sooooo much fun!!!

Might be *too* zany, but the Calamity Jane books are cozy and funny. Sometimes plain stupid, but yanno.

My "comfort reading" tends to be fantasy. C.S. Lewis's "Narnia" books; David Eddings's "Belgariad" series; Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings". I've read all goodness knows how many times.

I recently finished reading Terry Brooks Word & Void series and I would recommend it even if just for the ending of the third book.

Rosamunde Pilcher...

If you're looking for a book that you can curl up with, I highly recommend Rosamunde Pilcher books. They're romantic, but not "romances" per se and they're set in the coastal villages of Cornwall, England. Very charming and full of descriptions of cozy cottages, delicious afternoon teas, and friendly neighbors. Of course, there's more to her stories than that, but I love the calming ambiance of her books! Best ones: The Shell Seekers and Coming Home.
