Definitely a day that calls for Talisker. But right now I'm hoarding mine, since I know I can't replace it. I've got 8-10 partial bottles of various single malts, but only 4 that I really care about -- Talisker, Oban, Ardbeg, and my beloved Lagavulin. They are definitely being hoarded and savoured.

So, tonight, I took a chance, hoping the combination of NSAID plus gabapentin that they have me on for this pinched nerve, would be enough to hold off the red wine headache. It seems to have worked, I was able to have a nice glass of Seghesio Old Vine Zinfandel to go with the lamb shanks.

Major Peets Domingo Cafe with a slice of toast covered with peanut butter and jelly. lucas enjoys using his new sippy toy as an object to bang but has yet to drink out of it.

Lemon and lime juice, a splash of tequila, and a drop of sugar. A lazy man's margarita. Nice.

Finished a breakfast of Huevos Rancheros, made with my own chorizo and this morning's eggs from our chickens, with a big glass of fresh squeezed OJ. Now, a cup of Peet's Major Dickason's coffee and a walk, I think. The sun is out, it's clear but a bit cold. A nice day for it.

Is it alright to have English Breakfast at 6:54 pm? And I steeped it for 5 mins, with boiling water. Acceptable? Or horrible way to drink tea?

"English Breakfast" tea is just tea. Every other kind of tea has a special name, but "English Breakfast" is an imaginary name invented by people outside England. It's fine to drink tea at any time of day.

Boiling water is right (as I was taught), and five minutes will give you a strong cup. Feel free to experiment with how long.

"English Breakfast" tea is the name of a tea blend, usually Indian teas and Ceylon teas, but some purveyors use Chinese Keemun in their blends. It's a 'hearty' tea rather than a delicate one such as Darjeeling, and for me, it's good any time day or night. I like to brew it with water that has boiled and then cooled just a little bit... say... around 95 degrees, and let it steep for 4-5 minutes. It's my favorite generic tea blend.

But now it's time for rum. And for today, a bigger glass than usual.

Good to know I'm not doing anything 'wrong'. But it is not strong enough. Seems like I'll have to leave it there for 10 mins, next time
