Plenty of people pay a small fortune to be placed in challenging situations so they can exercise their minds to solve the problems in the best way for all. "Outward Bound" runs a half dozen different 'camps' for adults, in all sorts of different environments, and major corporations send their top management people to these courses to help them develop better living and working skills. "National Outdoor Leadership School" offers the same, and has been successful for years with their programs. The people on the cruise obviously could not think as far ahead as 'using a toilet that doesn't work 'might' be a problem.' No wonder they thought they were in Hell. Stitchawl |

Why do some companies think they know better than you in which language you want to view their website. First Google made it hard for me to search only English websites. I've selected as my primary language English but it keeps insisting I really want to use Dutch. Now EA thinks that I want to view the Simcity website in Dutch, even if I select "United States" from the drop down menu, it keeps going back to the Dutch website. I can select and get the UK website so that has to do for now (I want to read the developers blog in it's original English language and not a Dutch translation).

WTF are the people over at Google smoking? First they announce a $300 Internet streamer that must be controlled through an Android device, and now a $1300 laptop that only runs a web browser?!

Full whine/rant mode on:
I came home from work last night and promptly came down with a cold/flu! Out of nowhere! My throat suddenly became very sore, my temp soared into triple digits, my nose started running, fits of sneezing frightened all the cats off my lap, and I began falling asleep in my chair, alternately sweating and shivering. ![]() I crawled into bed at 9:30 pm and slept like a dead log. This morning I crawled out of bed, fed the cats, called in sick to work, and collapsed. I was finally driven to unearth some out of date Claritin tablets to prevent myself from sneezing my brains out, or dehydrating through my nostrils. No appetite, no energy, still in my PJ's. ![]() Whine! for listening. Please update your virus filters lest you catch this. *snivel* No one at work is sick - I have NO idea where this came from! [or who to blame! ]

First rant:
My wife bought a Dell computer under the account I set up several years ago. It was delivered last week, but it's still taped up in the box. We don't intend to set it up until next week. Tonight I got a call on my home phone, asking for me by name. The caller identified herself as being from Dell Technical Support. She had a very difficult accent, but my wife took the call, since it was her computer. She took the person seriously, but between the accent and the background noise (it sounded like a busy call center) she couldn't figure out what the caller was talking about and she handed the phone to me. The caller confirmed my name and that we had just gotten a Dell computer. She then proceeded to tell me that they had received "signals" from our computer and that our personal information was at risk. She seemed to want me to follow some instructions so they could protect our computer -- the one that's still in the box. Since I doubted that an unplugged computer in a box would be sending "signals," I asked for more details. My wife followed my line of questioning and began laughing too loudly for me to hear the caller, so I ended the call. Second rant: I then called Dell since this seemed to be way too accurate to be a coincidence. I was concerned that someone had accessed our information and might have access to other information in our account. I spoke to four people in total over the course of 45 minutes, not counting their charming phone robot. I was trying to reach someone in their security department, but only bounced back and forth between customer service and technical support. I remain unimpressed.
