Listing empty books
Is there a way to list only empty books (books with no formats) or alternatively to list everything except empty books?

Ah, Formats is not a "Column' you can show, but you can still use in a query

did you create a custom column so you could see the formats outside of looking in the details pane?

Concur with theducks, if you see a column you created it. Calibre does not come with a column for formats. If you click the Formats in the tag browser you will see in the search bar formats:true after one click (green plus) and formats:false after the second click (red minus).

Well...having used calibre for quite a few years I evidently created the '#formats' custom column some time ago.

As the op asked, theducks' response works.

Don't feel sad. There are Tweaks in place for so long, I forget that this is not the 'factory' way it works.
If you have ever seen my screen shots, none of my instals of Calibre or Sigil are 'as Shipped'. IMHO this is one of the greatest Calibre features. Arrange Icons for the way YOU (and your mind) works.

These commands with the # will only work if you have a custom formats column. If you use them without the # then they should always work.
