whispersync question

I read library books on the Kindle app on my iPad. I recently got an ipod touch. Now I have the same book on both the iPad and the Touch. (They are downloaded through Amazon.) If I read on the Touch and then go to the iPad, the whispersync works correctly. But if I read ahead on the iPad and then go to the Touch, the Touch is still on the last page I read there. When I try to sync, it tells me that this is the last page read on all my devices, even though I have been farther on the iPad. What am I doing wrong?

I think I have answered my own question. I just discovered that Annotations Backup was turned off on my Kindle iPod app. I believe that has to be on for the Kindle to whisper up to the mothership.
