We've had a report that this app causes newer Touch firmware versions to hang up.
Specifically: This hangs KT 5.3.2 & Paperwhites. It's known to work on KT 5.1.2.

Do NOT use it on the later firmware.

For the Kindle Touch. Tested on 5.3.2

To hide collections manager itself...place collections manager in a collection then hide it with collections manager. It won't hide without being in a collection.

This is the "fixed-up" version with correct filename expectations and no space owing to KUAL 0.3.1 compliance issues.

Other Notes:

• On 5.1.x Firmwares, the search bar disappears if the device enters sleep mode and wakes up again. There is no known workaround, but you could just actually use the device, so that it doesn't enter sleep mode ... or simply restart the application.
• On Firmwares >= 5.2.0, the search functionality is not available.

That actually keeps the machine awake, not just disables the screensavers.

Or, it keeps it from going to sleep for more than 14 hours, that I know from experience with using USBnetwork on it that long.

The source for this is available here and the project is RIPE for expansion.

EXTRA NOTES:

The "drawing direct to the framebuffer" thing that this does freaks out the kindles display slightly. but it does work. really well.

After closure: Will leave visual artefacts on the kindles search/status area until something causes that area to be redrawn. Open a book, browser, etc.

So To reiterate: Since this extension uses EIPS for displaying output. It will cause the search bar and status area to become a bit mangled looking.

This can be easily remedied by

• Opening a book
• Opening the browser
• power cycling
• other things.

This eink eips messiness will probably be tidied up at some point.

This loader uses eips to display lists of games. One can then be selected from the list by

• typing it's name then
• Pressing the Aa Key

A demo rom is included, if you enter no name the demo will run.

To select any game you would type nameAa

where name is the name of the rom you wish to run.

games can live in

• /mnt/us/fbgnuboy/roms or
• /mnt/us/extensions/gameboy/roms

EXTRA NOTES: (about the 8 bit touch version)
There has been built an X-version of this for the touch devices but it stumbled on creating long presses with the Touchscreen driver which renders many games unplayable. If anyone has any tips on fixing that... chime in. Happy to share the xgnuboy build, make tweaks or whatever (it has sound). Dithering on the 8 bit devices is also unfinished. So... Unless you are a developer don't expect joy on the alternate devices yet. Cheers.

This simple extension has only one purpose: stop Amazon from updating your Kindle silently without your explicit consent. It is intended for users who believe in "My device - my rules" principle.

It doesn't stop Kindle from downloading the update file but once it is downloaded, any silent installation attempt fails instantly in an early stage without depleting the battery and intercepting the GUI.
The update file is preserved after such failed attempt and thus it is not downloaded again and again.
Full updates are recognized during the attempt and a countermeasure is deployed (dummy update file update__this-file-prevents-installing-on-reboot.bin is created to confuse the boot-time updater)

Manual update triggered by user is still possible (i.e. selecting "Update Your Kindle" in the menu).

You can install the extension as a classic update bundle or a KUAL extension. Please do not install both.

The next thing to be done for this new Firewall is to add system support for the "REJECT" and "ULOG" targets.

Then the rule-set will have the "DROP"s replaced with the right kind of "REJECT"s so the user doesn't have to wait five minutes for the store to time-out.
Amazon really, really wants you to access the store - it tries for an unreasonable length of time to do that.

The rule-set will come in two flavors - simple and advanced (for developers) - the advanced one, instead of dropping unknown packets will use ULOG to capture a copy for off-Kindle study.

This should lead to interesting things like "limited access" to Amazon network features -
Like getting authorization to use a public Wifi Hotspot on their "Free Wifi" account (which comes with your device).
Like using the e-mail "send to Kindle" feature.

Also note:
The current firewall does not prohibit you from using your own - "at home" Wifi.
See section 4.7 of your 711 report (scroll down in the report) to: "Sponsored: No"

Just can't (right now) use the Public, commercial, Wifi hotspots.

No ETA for when this update to the system resources will happen, just know that my Kindle Koding partner (twobob) and I are working on it.

NOTES: On K5 and PW Duokan starts in 8 seconds while on other devices it starts immediately. Extension uses the original script to launch the Duokan. Hence you should not have the DUOKAN_NO file on the USB root.
