You have USA (43) and China (2000+). All the rest are incorrect. The last hanging in the UK was in 1964 (2 at once). Too low. The number is either 18 or 20, depending on which source you use, so I'll give it to you. USA and China have gone. Expand on your other guesses to name them specifically and you might get there. |

I know for a fact that Japan has the death penalty, but if there was any execution in 2011 is off course a different matter. I would imagine that a lot of Latin American countries would be on that list, Cuba, Mexico and Brazil would be candidates in my book.

Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq are correct.
Quote:
Rather than draw this out...the article goes on to say: "Amnesty International say there are 18 countries worldwide which carried out known executions in 2011: Afghanistan (2), Bangladesh (5+), Belarus (2), China (2000+), Egypt (1+), Iran (360+), Iraq (68+), Malaysia (1+), North Korea (30+), Saudi Arabia (82+), Somalia (6), South Sudan (5), Sudan (7+), Syria (1+), UAE (1), USA (43), Vietnam (1+), Yemen (41+)." I think Hamlet got the most with 3 and therefore is up next (given that Stitchawl, whose go it really was, is away). Last edited by orlok; 01-25-2013 at 08:15 AM. Reason: typo |

Unless people are willing to put this on hold for at least 12 more hours perhaps someone else should come up with a good quiz?

Another quick riddle:
Halo of water, tongue of wood Skin of stone, long I've stood. My fingers short reach to the sky Inside my heart men live and die. |

I hope Issybird doesn't mind if I post a few questions in an attempt to prevent this enjoyable thread from dying.
I went to a pub quiz last night with some friends (we go once a month) and thought I'd share some of the questions we were asked; 1. What spirit is sometimes called Nelson's Blood after he was preserved in a barrel of it for the journey home after his death? 2. What type of dish is 'caprese' 3. On the cover of the Beatles' Sgt Pepper album, the name 'Beatles' is made up of flowers. What colour are the flowers? 4. What spirit is made from the agave plant? 5. How many men have played James Bond in the official films of that series? Good luck. We got all bar one of the above correct and won the quiz!

All I know for sure is that the Beatles' name was spelled out in RED flowers.
