The wind was only 8km/h on that day. Today the wind is 43km/h and just pulls the cold right off your face. With the 8km/h wind you could stand around and feel okay since the heat from your face wouldn't be blown to Inuvik.

If that -43C windchill day had had a 43km/h wind it would actually have felt like -59C.

Our cold snap continues - our wind is picking up today to 25 - 30 mph gusts, with temps in the 30's F! They're still calling for snow/sleet/freezing rain here on Friday - just in time for evening commute! Last time this happened, the entire area gridlocked! With under an inch of frozen precipitation! Oh joy!

Thunder snow is cool. I've seen it twice, and one of those times it was really intense. I was driving and the flashes were coming so close together it was almost like a giant strobe light in the sky.
