Kindle for PC - Windows 8
I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 8 and I can't find where Amazon downloads purchased books. There is no "My Kindle Content" folder and searching for a book by name and by Amazon ID# finds nothing.

Anyone know where the books are stored?

I posted this originally in the Kindle forum but had no responses in two days so am trying here.

In Kindle For PC, just look in Tools/Options/Content, it will tell you where the files are stored.

This doesn't find any new files, just the old ones in caliber.

I'm having the same problem. There are books I want on my Nook but B&N doesn't have for sale, however Amazon does. I thought Calibre would be the right solution to convert the files and put them on my Nook, but Windows 8 is not like other operating systems and the Kindle app doesn't download normally.

It's frustrating, to say the least.

If you cant find the files on your computer, go to your manage my kindle page on amazon and download the files from there.

The problem is after you download the files to Reader for PC there is no clue as to where the files are located and searching doesn't find them.

Yes, this is the only solution I've found. I installed Reader for PC for Windows 7 on my Windows 8 PC and it works fine, just like it did on Vista.

Depends on whether you buy a lot from amazon or only once in a while, in which case the overhead of K4PC is probably not worth it.
