Who keeps the T1 in stand-by all the time?

I keep mine that way all the time. But if you let it go more than 3 days without waking it up, it will shut down by itself.

My T1 is on standby mode all the time as well. No appreciable power loss and certainly would not damage the e-ink screen

Power is consumed on e-ink screens whenever you change the page or screen. So once the image is loaded and you keep it set to that one screen, it really doesn't use up any appreciable power at all.

If you are not going to use it for a day or more you should probably power off... it's not a battery issue it's just the only time I had a problem that couldn't be fixed by a simple reset was when I let it power off.. ok... that maybe had nothing to do with the problem.. but why take a chance?

I keep mine on standby all the time, I do exit the book first though as I believe it's more stable that way.

I read every day and I usually keep it in standby when not actually reading. However, eventually I start getting errors, usually with the dictionary, and at that point I will turn the reader all they way off and back on. It seems to need a reboot every once in a while.

I simply switch "Off" to blank screen, not power down - I've always been told this is best practice with this type of battery, ie a minute trickle being used, born out by my experience anyway.
It certainly educates the battery - I manage around 2-3+ weeks, depending on useage. All my other Sony's are the same, the 650 the best - so, never actually power off is the answer .... |
