@Pepin33 - you can't use the Adobe algorithm with anything other than EPUB. The Adobe algorithm is based around compressed zip file contents, something you only have with an EPUB file. I will add some logic to the plugin to better report the problem.

  • If user chooses Adobe page count algorithm, do not attempt it on any formats other than EPUB.

@fathermocker - look at your error stack - remove those "Alf" plugins which you are out of date on and are throwing errors. And restart calibre. Then see what you get...

There seems to be a typo. To the left of the dropdown, it's referred to as "Gunning Fox" where elsewhere it is "Gunning Fog". Version 1.6.5 of the plugin & Calibre 0.9.10

You have set your button default to "Download page/word counts" rather than "Estimate". The download option will find the matching linked book on Goodreads (if any) and scrape the page count off their website for that edition. If you ant to use that option your book must have an identifier of goodreads:xxx. How does it get such an identifier? By using either the Goodreads metadata download plugin furst, or te Kinked Book feature of the Goodreads Sync plugin.

If the book does not exist on goodreads then you will have to use the Estimate option/

Whatever page count algorithm you chose is not compatible with the book formats you have. For instance if you chose the ADE algorithm, that only works on EPUB.

Just wanted to add some praise - this plugin has caught me some bad files, one was suspiciously short; others could not be counted (re-downloading or contacting the store helped). Without it I would not have noticed.
