e-Ink coming to an iPhone near you

Seems a company called Popslate it's coming out with a device you attach to your iPhone so you will have an e-Ink screen on the back of your phone. Found of on Mashable and there is a YouTube video as well, alas being on the tablet using Tapatalk I can't enter links here.

Here's the link. It's a crowd-funding campaign rather than a product currently available, though.

I'd be more interested if this were for iPad, however.

If someone makes foldable one with ability to transfer files from iphone/android, it is going to sell like pancakes.

I like the concept. If it isn't some gaudy attachment that bulks everything up, this could be great.

The question is off course; "What will it be able to display?".
I don't think it will mimic the main screen, that seems like redundancy.

I like the idea, but don't know what the potential uses would be besides a clock and a nice picture. Maybe a To-Do list...not enough to buy it.

Wonder though how much the video is doctored up. Looks like really fast e-ink. For that price ($120) someone should be able to make a complete phone sized ereader. Now that would be cool - a mini-kindle with frontlight and e-ink and 4 inch screen doubling as a mp3 player for music / audiobooks.

As a fancy and bulky case for iPhones, I doubt it will be much use though. I am definately not going to buy an iPhone only for this cover. Them promising to make it color-eink by 2014 (or trying to) seems a bit unrealistic as well.

Actually, something like that, especially with a bendable screen, should have a bright future in the educational market. Imagine what it would do for elementary students.
