Thanks for reminding me of the series, I downloaded it and am enjoying it immensely. The first in the Company series was released as a free ebook a few years ago by Tor books. "In the Garden of Iden" which I will soon reread.

Joanne Bertin's The Last Dragonlord is $2.99 at Amazon US and Barnes & Noble. I suspect this is a promo prior to a new book in the trilogy appearing at the end of the month.

Amazon description:
Quote:
Dragonlord Linden Rathan, last-born of a race of immortal weredragons, has spent six hundred years alone, searching for his soultwin while his fellow Dragonlords watch over humanity's Five Kingdoms.

When the Queen of Cassori dies mysteriously, Linden and the other Dragonlords are called upon to prevent civil war as two human claimants vie for the regency.

As the battle for Cassori rule escalates, Linden becomes the target of the Fellowship, a secret society of true-humans who could actually destroy his immortal life.

Then he meets a beautiful young ship captain named Maurynna who may be the only one who can help Linden bring Cassori back from the brink of chaos.

At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

Free SF - October Rain by Dylan Morgan from Hazardous Press.

Quote:
Mankind teeters on the brink of extinction in a solar system choking under the glare of a dying sun. An assassin for the Martian Interstellar Correction Agency, Steele has one more assignment to complete before a big payoff and the chance of a new life: a job that will reveal the true horrors of mankind’s futile existence and threaten the very people who make his life worth living.
The Shadow Eater by A. Attanasio is free.

Quote:
A gnome wanders among strange worlds of immeasurable beauty and terror on a quest for magic to restore the health of a goddess. If he fails, all creation will dissolve. And so he must dare anything to succeed, even trespass a realm of terrible darkness, pain and dread sorcery—Earth.

The Lady of the Garden, one of the godlike Nameless Ones, has used her magic to dream into existence the worlds of the Bright Shore. But now her unborn child lies motionless in her womb. An intruder from the Dark Shore, the malevolent shadow of her dream, threatens the life of her unborn. If she cannot locate and expel this shadow thing, she will waken the child’s stern father, and he will dissolve the dream—and the Bright Shore will vanish. In order to save the Lady of the Garden’s baby, an old gnome travels through the many worlds in search of the creature of darkness whose presence threatens the dream of creation.
Three free stories, two fantasy and one SF, by Mike Allen from Mythic Delirium Books:

Sleepless, Burning Life

Quote:
In the afterlife, the warrior Jyshiu searches for her lover Amritu, a goddess cursed to dance eternally inside a cage that hangs at the top of the clockwork universe. Kitsartu the Engineer imprisoned Amritu when she created the cosmic spheres; Amritu's dance powers the gears that make the stars turn. Should the goddess ever escape her cage, the universe will end.
She Who Runs

Quote:
No girl had ever lived so long wearing the curse of She Who Runs.

Lassamtu was not her name, but the name forced on her by the high priest in the temple where she'd been enslaved since her mother's murder. Nor had she asked for the suicidal task thrust upon her, to hurl an enchanted spear into the eye of Abzu, the Serpent that strove to crush the Egg of the World. The priest doomed her to the curse of She Who Runs, a spell that forces her to run at inhuman speed with no control over her destination. It won't release her until she strikes Abzu blind.

But Lassamtu will discover that all she's ever learned about the creation of her world amounts to lies and deception. Her tormentors will learn she's nowhere near as helpless as they thought. And that's only the start of this sinister yarn.

Part mythical fiction, part science fiction, part horror tale, this off-beat short story by CLOCKWORK PHOENIX editor and Nebula Award nominee Mike Allen first appeared in the anthology SKY WHALES AND OTHER WONDERS (ed. Vera Nazarian, Norilana Books, 2009.)
Stolen Souls

Quote:
"Far above the rest ... Venner lives in the near future, where aliens steal living human brains to use as computers. His wife is such a victim, and Venner vows to recover her. So he allows himself to be cyborged, and tracks the brain thieves across the universe. But as he approaches closer and closer to his goal, he must surrender piece after piece of his humanity to gain the edge on his adversaries."

Malim's Legacy by Jo Reed is free from Wild Wolf Publishing.

Quote:
Malim, time-traveller, psychopath and heir to the Family’s tyrannical dynasty, is dead. An uneasy truce exists between the head of the Family, Rendail, and his estranged son, Arghel.

But the fragile peace is about to be shattered. From their far future comes a power greater than they have ever seen, and it has just one purpose – to avenge Malim’s death. If they are to survive, Rendail and Arghel must put aside their old feud and work together.

Meanwhile, their only hope of victory lies in Rendail’s grandson, Alex, who has elected to live out his life in the 21st century with his son and the woman he loves. But Alex has gone missing, and time is running out.

The long-awaited third instalment in the Blood Dancer Trilogy.

Another freebie from Hazardous Press - An Airship Named Desire by Katherine McIntyre.

Quote:
Airships, sky-pirates, smugglers and soldiers... An Airship Named Desire is an action-filled steampunk adventure.

Ever since their last botched smuggling job, First Mate Bea and the crew of her airship can barely afford fuel, let alone a barrel of grog. So, when a gentleman from Old Germany offers them a fortune to steal a locked box from a British merchant airship, they jump at the opportunity. Somehow, though, their employer forgot to mention the box's military escort, and the Morlock mercenaries who would kill to get their hands on it. Oh, and that if made public, the contents could engulf Europe in another devastating war.

Stealing the box was the easy part. Now, with a target on their back, and some of the toughest characters in the sky after them, they have to find a way to survive. If the crew of the Desire don't polish their pistols and prepare for a hell of a fight, they'll end up worse than grounded. After all, everyone from the Brits to the Morlocks will kill for the contents of that box, and no one survives an airship crash.

The Icerigger Trilogy by Alan Dean Foster $2.00 at Amazon and Google Play

Quote:
Stranded on a frozen and remote planet, Ethan Frome Fortune searches for a way back to civilization

Icy, desolate, and sharply carved by hurricane-force winds, Tran-ky-ky is a terrible place to crash-land. But a botched kidnapping aboard the interstellar transport Antares sends Ethan Frome Fortune and a handful of his fellow travelers tumbling toward the stormy planet. Stranded and cut off from civilization, the castaways struggle to survive.

In this page-turning trilogy, Fortune confronts vicious predators (even the plants want to make a meal of him) and forges an alliance with a native Tran. As he searches for a way off Tran-ky-ky, he helps the Tran gain admission to the Humanx Commonwealth and learns about their troubled history. Just as Fortune accepts that he’ll never escape the harsh planet and acclimates to its relentless winter, he learns that scientists have detected rising temperatures in the atmosphere. This sinister change leads Fortune to a thrilling and unexpected final adventure.
The Hunger Games Trilogy is $9.79 at Amazon and Google Play.
