Using dictionary on Kindle
I often read blogs and articles on my Kindle Keyboard.
But I need to use my built in English-Hungarian dictionary. I usually download the article in HTML if exists a printable format. If doesn’t (for example blogs), I copy the article and paste it into the MS Word, after that I save as PDF. Later, I convert either the HTML or the PDF into MOBI. Unfortunately I can’t use my built-in dictionary on my Kindle. It doesn’t show anything. Only “Begin typing to create a note or...” blablabla. Interesting thing, if I download the same article with the Calibre built-in news download service, I can use my dictionary. It shows the meaning of the words. I have tried to convert HTML and PDF into AZW3, but it worked neither. I use the Calibre with default setting. Have you met similar problem? Could you suggest something to me? Thank you for your answer in advance! |

I mean, if I convert anything into MOBI or AZW3 by the Calibre, I won’t be able to use a dictionary on my Kindle.
Neither my English-Hungarian dictionary nor the Kindle’s own single language Oxford dictionary. |

Try using Mobi2mobi and set language to english.
For mobi2mobi, see the sticky in the Mobi forum. Last edited by Jeff L; 11-19-2012 at 07:22 AM. |

Yes, the language ID of the book has to match the language ID of the dictionary.

Thank you so much for your idea!
I have found a setting in the Calibre in the "Edit metadata" where I can choose the proper language. I have never use it before. But finally it works! :-D Thank you again! |
