It's necessary to create a new way to export note and highlights

Last days i was thinking it's really necessary to create a new way to export notes and highlights, because we're tied to propetary software and their limits about exporting notes and highlights. it's impossible every time buying a new ereader we've to find a new way to export and to handle our old and new notes and highlights. I think it could be useful to create a web application for reading our ebooks, taking notes and highlights and to export them, so we can access them just using browser installed by default in the device and we could access to our notes and highlights from Desktop too, without installing nothing. I was thinking it's possible to do that just modificating this opensource software http://lwt.sourceforge.net/ and adapting it for reading ebook (epub at least) and taking notes and highlights . I don't know if i'm saying stupid things and it could be a good idea. Let me know what you think about that. ps: sorry if my english is not so good, but i'm learning
