Then look around... damning an entire nation for a couple of reviews... ooops, forgot, this about evil ole Apple... sorry, carry on with usual hate Apple/corporate/anything I don't personally like and sink to usual level instead of reasoned discussion...

Seems like people like it quite a lot, with the caveat of the screen. Probably worth it to wait and hope for a 2x retina screen in 2013. Interestingly, because they're driving that lower-resolution screen, the iPad mini internals have benchmarks equal or superior to the iPad 3. That bodes well for OS updates. Battery life is also exceptional: a full 3 hours more than the best 7" tablet competitor.
You believe that American technology blogs are engaged in a conspiracy to protect Apple's bottom line by falsely giving its products positive reviews? |

I think why people get so worked up is that they simply don't understand Apple's target market. They do make good devices. The Mini is overpriced given it's specs, there's little doubt about that, but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. The total experience, from all accounts anyway, seems to be quite good.
Personally, I'll never again pay a premium to join their locked-down proprietary world, but I can still see why some people find them so appealing. Unlike a lot of open standards, that proprietary world makes it easy for Apple to get their own devices integrating smoothly with each other. If you don't mind the limitations, it's not a bad world. |

RE: the open vs. closed debate, you can always jailbreak and have the best of both worlds.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...rt-of-comments Apple seems to have excellent press relations and/or reviewers are simply doing copy/paste jobs with the press material. When did you ever come across the term "chamfered" in tech reviews in the past? Now you have it in every second "review". |

In any case, why would you support a manufacturer of closed ecosystems by purchasing their products and adding to their bottom line if you don't like it to begin with? The only way they will change is if people stop buying into them. You can clearly see by their legal efforts that they have no intention of allowing jailbreaking forever. People don't seem to understand integrity anymore. They just do whatever suits them best for the time being. But I digress, I'm getting off topic here. |

Device: Nook, Nook Color The Nook Color/Tablet have to be the most locked down tablets ever. Same type of restriction as Apple (only apps from their own store), but with a much worse selection, and no competitor reading apps allowed. So you don't seem to follow your own advice? |

The reviewer in the Guardian initially didn't even get the prices right. That's the least one could ask for. Apart from that fanboism is just tiresome, even if it is being veiled with an attempt at irony.
