Spotify now available for Kindle Fire

Not that I wasn't using it already,

but it's now officially supported for our KF and on the Amazon App Store.

I joined in 2008 when Facebook wasn't needed, thankfully.

Are you sure it *requires* Facebook. I'm not arguing, because I use my Facebook account to log in, but I could have swore there was a non-facebook log in.

Edit: Just checked and there is both a Facebook login and a Spotify Details login. It *appears* that there is no need for Facebook.

More likely it's the other way around. Spotify probably had to beg for this kind of Facebook integration, and this requirement was part of the terms it must've agreed to.

Having that kind of login is important to a music subscription service. Otherwise you have people signing up with various e-mail addresses every 60-90 days just to listen to music for free. It's A LOT of money going down the drain otherwise.

Spotify has a free version just like Pandora. No need to change accounts.

The reason for the facebook integration is that spotify uses facebook's infrastructure to help you share and discover music. You can play the playlist of a friend, for instance. As far as I can tell, however, you need a premium account to use playlists. The free client for my kindle fire is more like pandora than spotify on my pc.

If it wasn't for the Facebook thing, I would've given Spotify a shot and compared it with Pandora. Oh well, Spotify's loss.

ive tried spotify, i find Slacker Radio nicer and it doenst crash nearly as much on my phones tablets and computers, so i use pandora and slacker radio to get most of all my "radio"
