are you sure you don't just have 5.1.0? I haven't seen any other news of people with 5.1.1, and nothing from Amazon either.

@kubrick89: I said in a PM a couple of days ago that I would get you a tool to make backup images. I should have time to do that tonight or early tomorrow. Very busy lately...

I bet they are still rolling out the 5.1.0 OTA, and maybe they are waiting until that's done before releasing 5.1.1 to everyone.

they probably pulled what some companies do and made it so 5.1.1 requires 5.1.0 to be installed before you can use it at this time which sounds okay in theory but causes headaches in practice, either that or they perhaps pulled similar to what they did when they first released special offers for the K3 and will be giving all the updates of 5.1.1 in 5.2.0

Hmmm... since kubrick89 has reported this firmware some two weeks ago, and it seems legit (thanks for the screenshots, kubrick89!) - did anybody else see signs of life of firmware 5.1.1?

I found my kindle had fw 5.1.1 but when I rebooted it it went back to 5.1.0. I never saw 5.1.1 again

Shipped with 5.1.1, then OTA "upgraded" to 5.1.0. ???

Seems like an amazon OTA glitch to me...

No No No what I mean is that I was running 5.1.0 and wanted to install a jbpatch, so I went to settings and acidentally hit device info. It said 5.1.1 and no I did'nt misread. I decided to report this after rebooting. Later when I went to take a screenshot It was back to 5.1.0

That is consistent with what I said. I did not suggest you misread anything.

It sounds like an OTA update changed you from 5.1.1 to 5.1.0. I would consider that an OTA glitch, if amazon DOWNGRADES the firmware version like that.

I do not see how we are in disagreement. How is that a "No No No" ? What am I missing here?

So, the question is, did you start with 5.1.0, then it CHANGED (at least in the settings menu) to 5.1.1, then after reboot back to 5.1.0? If so, it is curious whether the firmware version actually DID change, or whether the settings menu reported false values.

If you really did change from 5.1.0 to 5.1.1, it must have been an OTA update that did it, and that would be the first reported instance of an OTA update to 5.1.1. Too bad it reverted back to 5.1.0 (unless amazon did a "recall" on 5.1.1 because of a serious flaw in that version)...

What I ment was it was not a new kindle and am sure it did not update from 5.1.0 to 5.1.1 because I blocked it. As for the misreading, that was because someone said kubrick98 might ahve misread it

Ahh... So it appears that the settings menu CAN report an INCORRECT firmware version. In which case, the OTHER screenshot showing 5.1.1 (in another thread) may be also incorrect...
