It can still be registered and used just fine. At least it seems they're fairly committed to supporting their legacy apps/devices. I realize that could change at any time, but I'd think if they were going to force someone to upgrade... they would have done it by now. |

How could it be faster? My previous seemed almost instantaneous anyway. Except for the rare topaz.

Yes, but for small files (on my machine) the difference is between a few seconds and just under one second. For my largest Mobipocket file (a 26MB dictionary), the decode speed has gone from over 10 minutes to under five seconds!

Do the v5 tools still work OK for books downloaded with old versions of K4PC?

Having peeked at the code, it seems to be down to two things.
The first is mostly responsible for the speed up on small files. The second is mostly responsible for the speed up on big files. Obviously, both help with both small and big files, but that's the way the benefits seem to split. |

I upgraded the tools --though not the Kindle version-- and it really is noticeably faster!

I have been using 4.8 with success using the drag and drop dedrm method (ie not Calibre). Do reinstall 5.0 overtop of that stuff without needing to touch Python? That is, follow instructions for a fresh install in existing directories? Or do I need to remove stuff first?
