My Book 1 starts with "On the pleasant shore" It's the flashback version. Personally I think I would have enjoyed the chronological version even less. I like books that jump back and forth in time.

Thanks, paola. So Book 2 of the original 1934 version starts with
Spoiler:
I don't know how the revised Book 2 starts, but assuming they each begin differently, then that would mean that my version is the original. ![]() ETA - Asawi beat me to it

Rosemary seems to fall in love every five minutes but it is getting easier to read as I go on.

I've made it to a third of the way through, and am abandoning Tender is the Night for the time being. I'm finding myself constantly thinking of books I want to read whilst reading this - not a good sign. I am also finding some of the narrative almost impenetrable, and have got tired of trying to work out which character is speaking, or who they are speaking about, and have even less interest in why they are bothering.
I hope to get back to it after reading something else, as I do want to meet the challenge, but for now it has defeated me, and I don't often give up on books... |

Good thing Outlander lost. I've read it and I hated it with a passion. It's a downright dreadful book.

I haven't joined the Tender discussion yet because I'm still slogging through it. It has it's moments, but...

Sounds like the title of a horror book!I'm still reading too but I'm almost finished (hopefully today).
