Requires a lot of major deals to be signed. It would take a year or two to get that together.

So I have tinkered with it and this is what I was able to do. I put the movies on a micro sd card, downloaded vlc, fought with it to get it to work. now the movies timeline shows up, I can hit play and all of that but the image stays black.

They are protected MPEG4
By protected MPEG4, do you mean .m4v files from iTunes store? Whatever the protection/DRM, you must first get rid of the protection/DRM and convert them to plain .mpg4 files (or any of several other formats) before transferring them to the Vox. There are several programs claiming to be able to do this. Google for "converting from .m4v to .mpg4".
