Hallo!

Es wäre toll, wenn wir hier einige Tipps und Tricks für neue Kindle 3 Besitzer sammeln könnten.

Ich fange mal an...

Einstellung Words per Line - Wörter pro Zeile
Wenn man die Taste (Aa) betätigt, kann man unter anderem die Einstellung "Words per Line" ändern. Zur Auswahl stehen fewest, fewer und default. Jedoch war mir der ungenutzte Rand immer noch zu groß, hier die Lösung:
  • Zum Hauptmenue wechseln (unbedingt notwendig)
  • Kindle via USB mit dem Computer verbinden
  • Die Datei reader.pref im Verzeichnis /system/com.amazon.ebook.booklet.reader/ öffnen (geht mit jedem Editor)
  • Den Zahlenwert in der Zeile HORIZONTAL_MARGIN= ändern. Je kleiner, desto weniger Rand (10 als Empfehlung)
  • Nun die Datei speichern und schließen
  • Den Kindle wieder trennen
  • Nun einen Restart durchführen (Menu/Settings/Menu/Restart)
Diese Änderung kann jederzeit Rückgängig gemacht werden, wenn man die Einstellung "Words per Line" wieder ändert!

Danke für den Tipp. Durch den Link bin ich auf inkmesh.com gelandet, was sehr hilfreich bei der Ebook-Suche ist.

Ich würde trotzdem jedem Kindle-Neuling raten, sich die $3,44 zu sparen. Alles was man wissen muss, findet sich auch hier im Forum, und wer sich einen Kindle kauft, kann ja auch meistens halbwegs vernünftig Englisch.

Gibt es dafür eine Lösung unter Windows Vista, ich kann weder system-Dateien sehen noch nach ihnen suchen lassen auf dem kindle?

Das müsste doch eine generelle Einstellung für den Windows Explorer sein, versteckte Systemdateien anzuzeigen oder auszublenden !?

Sonst kann ich für Vista nicht mitreden, bin gleich von XP auf 7 umgestiegen...

Möglichkeit 1: In den Ordner-Einstellungen "Systemdateien ausblenden" deaktivieren.

Möglichkeit 2: cmd öffnen (Start->ausführen: cmd). Annahme ist, dass der Kindle als Laufwerk E eingebunden wurde:

Es kann manchmal so einfach sein.

Ich hatte das Kästchen versteckte Dateien anzeigen gewählt, aber es gibt noch ein extra Kästchen für Systemdateien.
