Jumping between your book and a notepad is not currently supported, but several of us think it would be a good idea, and the developer community may be able to add this functionality.

Notes are saved in .png, and can be easily read on the pc.

There is software sold by iRex that is supposed to convert notes to text. I haven't tried it yet-- someone else will need to comment on that.

So, if I want to note how-is-how I can only write it into the e-book while I'm reading. Hm... Ok

Yes - it's specifically an annotation feature for the document you're currently reading.

Hmm .. rather stupid idea, and of course totally OT, but:
would it be possible to add an empty margin at the bottom of the pages (pdf-to-margined-pdf) and use this as "notepad" (scrolling down to write, up to read) but while reading just skip it?
It of course wouldn't be as good as a real notepad (e.g. notes would appear only on one page). Alternatively: Is jumping backwards (to the last page) and back to the previous page possible? Then just add a couple of empty pages at the end / front / wherever (e.g. adding a link at each page-bottom, and a "back" button on the empty pages)

One of the more interesting items that takes advantage of this limitation is mentioned in the iLiad forums. People are now designing documents as templates for note taking.

Hm...I see. A side-sliding-page where someone can get direct access to notepad to write something about what he's just reading.. really good idea. I'm so sad that I haven't the knowledge of a programmer....

One way to do this would be to allow the iLiad to display two application windows at once. I'd love to have this functionality. This would require hacking the ContentLister (proprietary code) or replacing it. There have been some community developer efforts to replace the ContentLister, but no results yet.

A split page would be an excellent addition. Lots of things it would help with.

A quick-switch function between two open applications would also work well, if that would be easier to implement. I'd be happy with either one.

Probably pretty tough if both applications were the reader. I was thinking about two books, not two applications.

It ought to be possible to run two instances of a single application, but I was thinking of running the Notes application simultaneously with iPDF or FBReader.
