What? One in Five young adults mentally ill???

I find this difficult to believe, but if true, what does that say about our society?

ScienceDaily (Sep. 28, 2010) — While many young adults will share the details of their daily lives with dozens -- sometimes hundreds -- of friends on Facebook, communicating with their health care providers about mental illness is another story.

"Roughly one in every five young adults between 18 and 25 has a mental illness," says Melissa Pinto-Foltz, a postdoctoral scholar and instructor at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University.

It would mean a bigger percentage of our society is sane than the overall culture would seem to indicate.

I didn't read the story, but when you take into account that this can include eating disorders, body dismorphia, panic attacks, depression, ocd, and I am sure quite a few other "issues" that while they are called "mental health", thus grouping them into the category of being "mentally ill", for the most part these are very normal, mainstream healthy people

The corollary is that four out of five young adults are mot mentally ill. So that behaviour is considered normal!
