I have just opened polish aplahet (saved as plain text in UTF-8) in .txt and all the characters are displayed correctly. So you can just flash your 505 and dont worry about the font embedding. Good luck

As it was already said... you can flash the device and use all file formats or use embedded fonts in pdf/lrf (but page turns are much slower).

So you need polish......
Before you can flash 505, maybe pdf->lrf is the only way. Last edited by xxueyi; 12-13-2007 at 02:49 AM. |

OK. But how to flash 505 to make it work, and how to do it safely? I did not find reliable explanation. Only that "500" ways do not work...

Just got my new silver 505 - After a couple of hours playing with the new toy - I really have to say - I'm impressed.
About the topic - with the first try I succeeded to import and open a book with Cyrillic /Bulgarian/ characters and the text showed exactly as it should have. For now I do not use any kind of software to transfer the files from the PC to the device - just copy and past in the Books folder of the device. I've converted the txt file into lrf filw using libris500 with the appropriate fonts. It took some time for the reader /approx. 5 min or little bit more for formatting/, but the text showed up really great. The spinning arrows weren't spinning while formatting... I don't know whether that's normal, or not, but still if you ignore the time /everything works just PERFECT/. Now I see, I tried the same book/text, but this time not converted with libris500 - just plaint txt - and the device converted it - in fact the arrows were spinning this time and the convertion took seconds, BUT the text was all monkeys and unreadable things. Therefore - with a convertion to lrf - everything works great - NO FLASHING, NO ADDITIONAL FONTS. JUST COOL ![]() ![]() |

I have 505 russified (got soft from the-ebook.org). My book displays Polish fonts well. I'm using lrf books made by BookDesigner (BD in Polish language mode.
Also I have Lithuanian fonts displayed well in txt files with Unicode URF-8. |
