Die Autorin kannte sich durch mehrfache längere Aufenthalte dort bestens aus (1901 erschienen posthum ihre "Briefe aus Paris und Spanien 1864–1870"); und dass sie auch als Malerin und Journalistin tätig war, ist auch in der Aufmerksamkeit des erzählerischen Blicks zu spüren.
