Help turn a bad opinion good (Sony connect error 0x0000005)
This blogger had some bad things to say about our beloved Reader :
http://www.optimist123.com/optimist/...-sony-rea.html Maybe someone can help him solve the problem and turn his opinion around He's getting an "Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)" when installing the connect software. I'm thinking maybe it's a problem with his USB port or driver on the PC? |

I've posted a couple of replies to his blog. I hope he sees them and comes here for some help.

Sony Vaio.. same problem
I just read the blog and have exactly the same problem using a sony vaio as well. I posted about it a little while ago https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12172) but simply bypassed the problem by using libprs500 at the time I assumed it was because I use a Spanish OS. I have never used the connect program and it hasn't hindered me much. The problem I have is that without connect I don't know how to update the firmware. I'd like to get it working but don't know where to start.
p.s. my opinion of the reader is that it is on a par with sliced bread, although this may be considered excesive by some. Last edited by buster; 08-29-2007 at 03:44 AM. |

I have Connect installed on two different Sony Vaios - no problem on either. Both are running XP.
I don't believe that Connect is required to do a firmware update - just download the updater from Sony's web site. |

no joy...
I tried that at the startafter trying with the original disc but the it gets to the first phase runs then simply shuts off. The reader is recognised (libprs500 shows it) so it is connected but nothing goes across, no instructions nada. Can't think of anything more to try.
Connect still has problems, are there other programs that will display lrf files on the PC? |
