Real Player
Hi all,
I would like to buy an Edge even if I live in Italy and I'm not really sure of the support here in Europe. Anyway one of the constraint for me will be if the Edge is able to play real player video, I have all the lesson of my university recorded with Real Media software. Did someone play .rm files with the Edge? Thanks! |

I've never seen support for RM files on the eDGe. However, RealPlayer comes with the RealPlayer Convertor software which you can use to transcode video files to MP4 format using a PC or Mac. There are also many other free transcoding utilities.. One forum member mentioned that transcoding for an iPhone gives good results for the eDGe.

The eDGe doesn't support DVD's... If the built-in video player doesn't play the MP4, try accessing the "App Store" via the "Store" app on your eDGe and install the mVideoPlayer app and try it with that one.
Note that the eDGe only plays MP4's encoded for "iPod"/"iPhone" reliably (i.e., relatively low 480p resolution). It will not play 720p or 1080i/p video as a rule of thumb. |

Don't feel bad. There are aspects of Android that don't make much sense or are bewilderingly complicated
To my knowledge those files are the same. However, not all apps recognize m4v files if I remember right. Just rename m4v to mp4 (or vice versa). |

remamed it and then it recognized it but mplayer said error playing file, please try again later. At least that time it was recognized. Could it be because its a protected mp4... its something we bought through itunes? just curious. I will figure this out if its the last thing i do this summer which tells you how busy i am and how important this really is right now... why did i go back to college again?

Protected audio & video files will definitely *not* play on the eDGe
