Epub to PDF Issue: text lines cut in half (Chinese font vertical-rl script)

Hello!

Hopefully someone can provide some pointers how to fix this. I tried several different settings for Epub->PDF conversion after reading dozens of threads here, but still have the same issue no matter the font size/margins etc.

What could be causing the vertical chinese line to be cut through at the page break??
Any help is highly appreciated...

That looks like a bug in chromium as far as I can tell. That's what calibre uses to render HTML to PDF.

Do you know of any other options worth trying to convert this type of script into PDF ?

you can try calibre v 5.6 it uses an earlier build of chromium before it switched to harfbuzz for font positioning, it might not have this issue.
