Sony promises Revolutionary Vaio Laptop

According to Sony
Quote:
On the 9th of January you will change the way you look at laptops. Forever.
This means to me a new display technology. Maybe an OLED laptop. Maybe display goggles instead of a screen? Maybe a screen with an extra wide viewable angle?

And if we're really lucky, it will be a display that catches on for dedicated e-book devices as well.

Who knows, but my hopeful guess is that they are introducing some of that 3D screen technology we have been hearing about. I suppose we'll find out January 9th...

...or maybe you have to hold the laptop upside down - with the display on the table and the keyboard in a vertical position

Is it just me or is there a flood of "revolutions" lately

Heh, this probably just means a new design... or they are releasing one with an OLED screen. Nothing really interesting.

Its probably this one.

Oooo. Display goggles instead of a screen? I've never thought of that. It might be cool! And with no display it should have longer batter life, possibly run cooler, and be much smaller and lighter. I'd love to see something like that.

Good thing Sony's doing something new this year cause Mobs says nothing new will come out of Mapple this year.

I'd be happy if it was just a Vaio with a region-free DVD drive. Now that WOULD be revolutionary for Sony.

I don't think it's another average netbook...
http://www.liliputing.com/2008/12/so...oks-stink.html

But how about a small netbook, but with a folding display for small form factor and larger display size? Mike Caine has referenced a folding OLED display for a smart phone in his blog.

yeah well whatever they do it will be sh it unless they develop their own os, anything with microsoft os is, even if god himself designs the outer shell and inards...sad truth be told boys....so I am really not that thrilled at all about this release...now had it been APPLE instead of sony...well that would be a cause for firecrackers for sure.

Sony making their own software is a very interesting idea, but totally impractical. Remember that the aPple OS has more than 2 million lines of code and that Wind Ows has more than 5 million (as I last heard). There would be a lot of catching up to do. Thinking further, there is still Linux.
