OK. I finally rooted my Fire2. The hard part was getting Win7 to install the USB drivers. These instructions worked. (

And now I can go to the Google Play Store and download apps. Nice!
But, when I click a link that wants to take me there, the External Market Links notification still comes up and wants to send me to the Amazon Market where the file I want is not.
Is there a way to defeat that so I can follow a link to wherever it leads?
