Someone suggested The Giver series by Lois Lowry, and I second that.

Also, there are some great books that have been out for a while (or a very long time) that you might enjoy. 1984 by George Orwell is probably my favorite book ever. Also: Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, The Handmaid's Tale.
