If the character is only part of the cover, the rest of the scenery might be the selling point
if it reflects the story.
I wrote to the author about a series cover with the main character holding a Big Honkn' Blaster, when in fact the telepathic character was not able to use
weapons (right there in the story)
The cover screamed WRONG
