This is only the 2nd time I tried charging it. The first time was okay, but now it won't charge

Is there any other solution besides taking it back? This was a gift so I'm not sure if my uncle should contact Amazon once he returns to LA, or if I can contact Amazon and return it from here (Philippines).

edit: can i use the usb cable of my kindle keyboard on the kindle fire? thanks
