The call home must use a secure connection. SSL and TLS 1.0 are no longer considered secure and should no longer be used. If you happen to allow use of credit cards on your site, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards no longer allow the use of SSL or TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 is discouraged and will be disabled by the end of 2019 (maybe). Migrating from SSL and Early TLS for more on this. Note the Android 4.4 (KitKat) or earlier do not have native support for TLS 1.2 or higher.
